Ultrasonic Distance Sensors use high frequency sound to determine the distance of an object directly in front. These are used to help your robot avoid objects while self navigating. For ages 12+
This is EZ-Robot's spin on a common sensor used in robotics for distance/range detection - but we've added additional circuitry for data accuracy and voltage regulator (min 6.2v, max 20v). It uses ultrasonic sound to determine the distance of an object in front of it. We've modified this sensor to connect with 3 wires directly to the EZ-B v4/2 Wi-Fi Robot Controller or EZ-B IoTiny (power, ground, signal).
These sensors can accurately detect an object within approx 60 inches. Ultrasonic Ping sensors are very accurate. Ultrasonic Ping sensors are not subject to interference by the sun. Ultrasonic sensors do have trouble with some cloth materials.
The HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor uses sonar to determine distance to an object like bats or dolphins do. It offers excellent range accuracy and stable readings in an easy-to-use package. It operation is not affected by sunlight or black material like Sharp rangefinders are (although acoustically soft materials like cloth can be difficult to detect).
