Cool Idea For Servos

While in Dallas this week, I joined the Dallas Personal Robotics Group. They have been around since 1984. I have watched them over the past 15 years or so and always wished I could join. After looking at some of the things that people have built that have come from the club, I decided that this was probably the most impressive thing. It is a servo that can be programmed to either be continuously rotating or a standard type servo. It is a neat concept, not that I am a fan of servos much, but it is a neat idea.

I haven't met these guys yet but plan on being in Dallas next Tuesday and will swing by and see if my membership dues were worth it or not. From the videos that I have found, I hope that it was a good (small) investment. Also, I hope to introduce them to EZ-Robot.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsGzeeBTraAts7lMQdfhqtA has some interesting videos. I thought that they did a presentation on SLAM at one point that I had watched, but I haven't been able to locate it. I will let you know what I find out.

have you seen Robotis Dynamixel Servos? They have higher precision and can do the same without needing to be programmed.

I would think that Dynamixel AX-12 servos would be ideal in an InMoov.

@OldBotBuilder They might be but all the servo stls would have to be updated so the Dynamixels would fit... What dynamixels would be equivalent to the Hitec HS-805bb giant scale servos? For reference the HS-805bb's produce 343 oz/in of torque...

I haven't messed with them. I thought it a cool idea though. I try to avoid servos as much as possible Smile
